What Happens If My Domain Expires?

If a domain isn’t renewed by its expiry date, it doesn’t disappear immediately — but it does stop working, and there’s a process to get it back:

• Your website and any associated email addresses will typically go offline once the domain expires.
• Most extensions offer a grace period after expiry where you can still renew, sometimes with a late fee.
• If the grace period passes, the domain may enter a redemption period with a higher restoration fee, before finally being released for public registration.
• Enabling auto-renewal and keeping your payment details current is the easiest way to avoid this entirely.
